The interlocking crises of 2020 exposed how historical traumas continue to live and limit America’s promise. Countering Black Oppression (CBO) exists to observe toxic patterns that oppress the Black Community, disrupt them, and demand change–and beyond change, reparation. Should we ever have the chance of realizing the “Beloved Community,” CBO organizers believe in mobilizing an active citizenry that fights for justice. This organizing circle lives its ideals through offering continuing education, direct community advocacy, and policy pressure.
CBO proudly supports the Black Lives Matter (BLM) Movement’s causes, for until our society demonstrates black lives DO matter, this group will work ceaselessly to ensure they do.
CBO champions ending the school-to-prison pipeline and police brutality; reallocating resources away from over-policed communities; and investing in reparations
